This past friday we headed to Kansas- just southwest of KC- for a triathlon (on Sunday) and camping for the weekend. It was an extremely HOT weekend- heat indexes over 100 and 96 degrees. We had a great weekend of camping. However, neither Nate or Dad would say this was their most memorable triathlon. Well, perhaps their most memorable but not their favorite! They both did great- considering the heat. It played a major factor and there were many racers (some we knew and they were awesome triathletes) in the medical tent and not even finishing the race.
The race didn't start till 845am so it was already hot.

The fan club. Over 6 hours of sitting around watching the race. Addison had to go back to the camper for a nap- Jackson lasted the whole time and was PERFECT! It's not easy being a fan!

this is the kids pre-race breakfast. i didn't know they'd like the whole wheat bagels but they LOVED them- and especially dipping them in their yogurt! yuck!

let's have this race be our BIG race next year... we'll work up to it-Memphis in May, then this race in August. Sound like fun. And we'll hope the weather is cooler :)
